The Bush administration has proposed radical changes to the Endangered Species Act that could severely harm wildlife already pushed to the brink of extinction by removing critical scientific oversight for federal projects that might impact species listed under the Endangered Species Act.
Removing science from the equation would also prevent the Endangered Species Act from considering the impacts of global warming emissions on endangered species, despite overwhelming consensus in the scientific community that wildlife like the polar bear is threatened by habitat loss directly related to global warming.
There is still time to make a difference. The Bush administration has opened a comment period for its proposal, so please take action and submit a comment to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service before October 14.
