After the long journey from Tennessee to the North Carolina coast, we finally
arrived in Wilmington. Exhausted from our travels we had little time or energy
to scrub the layer of Bonnaroo sludge off the hybrid. As we rolled up to our
live television spot at 6:30 in the morning, the local Sierra Club chapter
chair commented, ¡§I thought you might had have rinsed it off.¡¨ Thank goodness
for bathroom sinks and paper towels! A quick rub down helped us zoom through
the interview sparkling clean. A proper cleaning was now in order. At the nearest
coin-fed carwash we resisted the urge to attack each other with water hoses
and foam brushes lest we be unpresentable for the tabling event to come. Later
we discovered beachgoers would not have minded our appearance. Special thanks
to Mike Pope for setting up our morning media events and to Desi Horton for
hosting us. Also thanks to Brendan Bell, the Washington representative from
the Global Warming and Energy team in D.C. who drove down to do the media events
with us and keep us laughing
